Write the steps to deploy SPFx web part to SharePoint online.
To deploy the SPFx web part and extension in SharePoint online. We need to follow the steps mentioned below to deploy SPFx client-side solution (web parts, extension ) to SharePoint :

App Catalog site is a prerequisite to the deployment of the SPFx client-side solutions. Hence, you need to ensure that an App Catalog site is present.

Create Package:
  • Open the command prompt and move to our SPFx web part directory.
  • Run the command "gulp clean", this command removes all files from previous builds.
  • Run the command "gulp bundle --ship", you have to add the --ship or the --production argument to the bundle command, this command helps us to build solutions for production.
  • Run the command "gulp package-solution --ship", one we run the previous command we need to run this command to create a package. Once the command get executed, you can find the ".sppkg" package in the project directory on this location: “\sharepoint\solution\”
Deploy Package:
Go to the App Catalog site and click on the upload, now open the project directory in windows explorer and move to the SharePoint folder in the project directory and select the ".sppkg" file.
It will prompt you a dialog box. Click on the "deploy" button and the package will get deployed.

SharePoint Framework supports development on on-premises.
SharePoint Framework supports development on on-premises, It supports SharePoint Server 2019 and SharePoint Server 2016 .

How can we change the default icon of a web part, which appears in the toolbox?
Yes, we can change the default icon of a web part. You can set the web part icons in two ways.
1. Use a specific icon: 
With the help of "officeFabricIconFontName" property in the manifest of your web part. You can set the icon by providing the name of the icon. 
you can use the Fluent UI icons, to use Fluent UI icons, go to the Fluent UI icons overview page, copy its name, and paste it as the value of the "officeFabricIconFontName". Like "officeFabricIconFontName": "Sunny".
2. External icon image:
With the help of the "iconImageUrl" property in the manifest of your web part. You can set the external icon image by providing an absolute URL in the iconImageUrl property. 
Ex. "iconImageUrl" : "https://***/Icon.png".
You can also use a base64-encoded image instead of a URL. You can convert your Image into base64 using this site Convert Image to base64
